Be Kind to the People Around You

0

Have you ever thought about whether you are treating the people around you well enough? In fact, as we live our busy lives every day, we often forget about what is truly important. I was the same way.

Do you know musical actor Park Eun-tae? If you like musicals in Korea, you can’t not know his name. I’m a fan of his too. One day, I was listening to his song on YouTube, and reading the comments below the video made my heart sink. They were comments written by people missing those who had already passed away.

These were the comments.

I lost my mother and wife to illness within a year. I am raising two young children healthily. It’s been almost 10 years.

I remember when my son, a sophomore in college, passed away from a heart attack. Listening to this song reminds me of him, and I cried a lot. He must be watching from the sky now. I’m trying to live hard for his sake. Son, I love you and miss you so much.

I shed a lot of tears listening to this song. Last year, my beloved 26-year-old healthy son passed away from cardiac arrest in the morning. The sudden farewell is too painful, and I spend every day in tears. I pray that God’s comfort will be with all those who have parted with their loved ones.

Cherish Each Moment

Our lives are finite. The dear ones next to us will leave someday, and so will we. Everyone we meet today will disappear from this world and be forgotten someday. But that doesn’t mean we should look at the world cynically. Quite the opposite.

The most important thing we can do right now, here, is to be kind to the people around us. Cherish today, and genuinely appreciate the moments together.

Small Things Create Great Happiness

In your busy daily life, what efforts are you making for the dear ones around you? Simple greetings, warm words, small gifts… these little things accumulate to create great happiness. One of the comments I saw said this.

My younger sibling went to a distant place a bit early because of the Sewol Ferry incident… Many years have passed, and people think I’m okay now, but I still cry alone a lot… We fought a lot like typical siblings when they were alive… Looking back, I was such a mean older brother… If I had taken better care of them, they might have gone to another school and be living happily now… It’s so painful.

After reading this, I realized I couldn’t postpone it anymore. I strongly felt that I should be kind to the people around me right now.

Express Your Love

Here’s the conclusion. Express more love to the people around you. We live lives where we don’t know when we’ll leave. Don’t delay, say you love them now. Convey your heartfelt feelings to your family, friends, and partners.

Express your love to them right now. So you don’t regret it.
